Founded in 2015 as a spin-off of a well-established German ship management company, K17 Consulting GmbH has quickly grown into a well-known and meanwhile fully independent maritime consultancy company.

Our team has gained extensive knowledge in the field of ship management, operational cost control and accounting while working for different major ship management companies before joining K17 Consulting GmbH.

The team is headed by Marc Elsholz, who founded the company and holds the position of Managing Director. His previous positions include that of Technical Superintendent, Newbuilding Supervisor in Asia, Newbuilding Director and Fleet Director of German ship management companies.

The company has been established after extensive discussion with Banks, Administrators and non-operating Owners to close the gap in the market of marine consulting and to provide consultancy services which are based on practical vessel operational experience and not only on theoretical knowledge, thus creating added value for the client.

Among our staff members are experienced Marine Engineers, Master Mariners, Quality Managers, Naval Architects, Accountants and Tax Auditors, who have previously worked in leading positions in the maritime industry onboard and ashore before joining K17 Consulting GmbH.

By combining experiences which our team has gained both onboard and ashore, we are able to provide a “comprehensive picture” of all areas of ship management including a strong focus on costs and operational expenses.

Our customers are mainly Banks, Insolvency Administrators and non-operating Owners. We also work for a growing number of Ship Managers, who have contracted us for a third-party opinion or for case-by-case consultancy services.

We do not have a “one solution fits all” policy, but provide tailor-made solutions for each single client.
